Subject: 50 Meg issues+poor picture on V+
Date: 01 October 2009 09:49

Hi all , this is my first attempt via newsgroups at trying to resolve issues
i,m having,

Apologies if its come through to the wrong people but I have'nt a clue what
I,m doing if I,m honest.

Ive had numerous visits, new modem, tweaked power levels 3 times, and lastly
attenuators stuck on the back of my modem, but still my problems exists. Ive
also gleaned some knowledge from the people on another forum (CF) who
recommended I post here.

I had originally come to the conclusion that I would just wait till my
contract ends and regretably find an alternative isp, but it was strongly
recommneded I mention it here first.

The problems I,m experiencing appear to be packet loss related and coupled
with the constant (every few seconds) pixelation on the V+ suggest's that I
still have a problem.

Despite the best efforts of the 50 Meg support team no solution has yet been
found.

I was originally on the 20 meg package but moved over as soon as 50 meg came
available, and I can honestly say that for the first few weeks, my broadband
connection was fantastic, online gaming was a treat and for the first time I
could host large parties with no lag. However after a few weeks it seemed to
settle down to just being ok and now at best is poor, with occasion moments
showing promise.

I am a gamer as you may have noticed and having a good stable connection is
paramount to me, but for several months I have become so frustrated with the
in game quality that Ive considered finding a new hobby.

If someone could find the time to investigate my issues it would be greatly
appreciated and I will seriously consider staying with virgin media

Kind Regards Pabscars

Moved where from? This group is nothing to do with VM. You need to post in

Hope you have it sorted out by now. You didn't mention whether or not you
have a wireless connection - if so, switch to using all cable. It prevents
interference which could be the problem, and it will cost very little to do.
